Oil Acrylic

Grimes & Sons Oil Acrylic is a low VOC, water based stain suitable for use on interior, exterior, and raw timbers, i.e., fascias, panelling, decks, etc.Oil Acrylic can be top coated with Grimes & Sons Top Coat Clear, which is available in Matte, Eggshell, & Satin.

Gum or darker coloured timbers in particular need to be left for about 4-6 weeks, so the excess tannin and gum can leach out.

Do not apply Oil Acrylic in temperatures below 10℃, above 30℃, or when rain is imminent. Coverage is ≈ 10 - 15 m²/L, depending on timber porosity and method of application. Ensure surface is completely dry and free from wax, grease, dust, etc.. In mould prone areas, we recommend treating raw timber with Chlorite to reduce the chances of mould spores coming through. Stir thoroughly before and during use with a flat paddle. Keep lid closed when not in use. Apply with a clean brush, roller or spray gun. If spraying, use a 415 nozzle for a large area, or a 311 for a small area. Apply 2 coats on interior timbers, and 3 coats on all exterior timbers. Allow 8 hours between coats. All tools should be washed with warm, soapy water.

We recommend that you make your own test on part of the job which does not show to determine suitability for your specific use. Ensure each section is completed without interruption to avoid lap marks. When first applied, Oil Acrylic has a slightly greasy feel which will subside after a few weeks. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical advice.
